Volunteer Post: Reception/Administration Volunteer

Folkestone & District Mind (FDM) delivers a growing range of services for people with mental health problems. We do all we can to support mental health and wellbeing in and around Shepway. The reception area at 24/26 Dover Road is the hub of FDM and the first port of call for all visitors. It is essential that we provide a warm and friendly welcome to all callers and visitors.

Key Tasks

  • Provide a warm, welcome and efficient reception service at reception
  • Provide a high level of customer care to all visitors
  • Greet people entering the building and direct to the right destination
  • Take and relay messages
  • Become aware of all the services carried out at the centre
  • Provide information to callers in person
  • Ensure knowledge of staff movements in and out of the building
  • Tidy and maintain the reception area
  • Provide ad-hoc admin support to various departments as directed
  • Attend regular Reception Group meetings as far as possible
  • Ensure the confidentiality policy is adhered to at all times

What we expect from you

  • Basic understanding of mental health
  • Responsive to hopes, needs and aspirations of people with mental health problems
  • Able to work within the policies and procedures of Folkestone & District Mind
  • Discretion and sensitivity in contact with customers
  • Able to work positively as a member of a team
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Able to ask for help or support if needed
  • Excellent time-keeping skills
  • Able to act on own initiative
  • Flexible approach to work
