Support Us

Make a Donation

We thrive on the support of the people and businesses of Folkestone and the surrounding areas. The incredible work that we are able to do is because of the generosity of the people in our community stepping forwards to support those among us who need our help.

Yes, we are always looking for monetary donations to help fund the support and activities that we run, but you can also support us simply by shopping in our charity shops in Folkestone, Cheriton, and Hythe – or by volunteering to work in our centre, or our shops.

One of the biggest differences you can make is to help us spread the word – advocate for us and raise awareness of the services we offer. Volunteer your time to fundraise on our behalf; we often have slots in the town-centre or at the local supermarkets whereby we would really appreciate supporters giving up an hour of their time to help us collect donations.

Where Your Money Goes

All activities and services provided outside our core services, such as those which make up the Wellbeing Programme, Counselling Service, etc. rely upon donations, grants, and the fundraising efforts of our local Charity shops, and Centre staff and volunteers. To sustain the current level of service requires us to raise in the region of £40,000 per annum. A donation of £3.00 will pay for our members to enjoy an individual music lesson or a donation of £7.50 would pay for a member to receive counselling.

Current Projects That Need Funding

Suicide Prevention

Suicide Prevention

To further our essential work with suicide prevention we would like to extend our safeTALK service to provide additional listeners, additional hours of operation, and additional locations.

A donation to Folkestone & District Mind’s Suicide Prevention Project would enable us to further this service and to provide support available to help those with suicidal thoughts or ideation.

If you are feeling suicidal or are supporting someone who is, telephone Mind on 01303 250090 and book a time to come in.

Furnishing Community Space

Furnishing Community Space

Folkestone & District Mind provides a wide range of community activities and would like to furnish a dedicated space to provide activities such as Yoga, arts & crafts workshops, Music lessons

and much more.

A donation to our community space fund will enable us to offer all our community activities at a much-reduced rate by removing the need for us to spend much needed funds on renting halls and community spaces elsewhere.

Legacy Donations

A will is a good way to plan for the needs of your family and loved ones. By leaving a gift to Mind you can also help make sure that in the future no one has to face a mental health problem alone.

How you phrase your will depends on what type of gift you want to make. There are two main types of gifts or legacies that people tend to leave to charities. Your solicitor can help you with more specific, or complex gifts.
Otherwise known as a share of your estate. This is when you leave a portion of what you own to us, after your family and friends have received what you want to give them. This is our recommended wording:

I give [insert percentage] of my residuary estate to Folkestone & District Mind (registered charity number 1089472), 3 Mill Bay, Folkestone, CT20 1JS, to be applied for its general purposes and I declare that the receipt of the finance director or appropriate officer shall be a complete discharge to my trustees.

A pecuniary gift can be a cash gift of any amount. This is our recommended wording:

I give [insert amount] to Folkestone & District Mind (registered charity number 1089472), 3 Mill Bay, Folkestone, CT20 1JS, to be applied for its general purposes and I declare that the receipt of the finance director or appropriate officer shall be a complete discharge to my trustees.

A specific gift can be a gift of any object, for example an artwork or antique. Retaining documents showing provenance of the item, may increase its value. This is our recommended wording:

I give [insert item] to Folkestone & District Mind (registered charity number 1089472), 3 Mill Bay, Folkestone, CT20 1JS, to be applied for its general purposes and I declare that the receipt of the finance director or appropriate officer shall be a complete discharge to my trustees.
